WavePath™ is a 3D computer graphics render system currently in development and intended for special effects and animation professionals. Eventually, it will launch as an online service to provide outsourced computer generation of visual effects for individuals and studios.
Feature list:
Mesh data as triangle geometry,
Procedural mesh generation (possible support for continuous procedural surfaces),
Procedural texture maps (parametric functions),
Procedural camera definition (lens warp, depth of field),
Planned support for legacy material properties (BRDF, BSDF, PBR, etc.), *
Physically-realistic rendering (programmable to be accurate or artistic), *
Relatively small memory footprint,
Eliminates the need for anti-aliasing and texture filtering,
Ripe for acceleration (currently multi-threaded, GPU acceleration planned, dedicated hardware possible),
Possible real-time applications (3D modeling/animation, games, virtual reality).
* Not currently implemented, but planned for future development.
Performance metrics:
The graphs below were generated using the time elapsed for each frame of a test scene to complete rendering. The results are graphed by frame number. Four polygon densities were used for demonstration. The raw data can be found here and is comprised of lossless PNG images and include alpha transparency data for composition.
